Prabal Gurung is proud to announce a donation of 2,000 3M manufactured N95 respirator masks to New York hospitals and frontline medical workers in partnership with The COVID Foundation. This donation marks the launch of the brand’s ongoing response effort to get critical and medical grade protections into the hands of those who are fighting to protect the community. The COVID Foundation, an organization dedicated to protecting the frontlines and supporting vulnerable communities in order to slow the contagion of COVID-19, facilitated the procurement, verification, and distribution of these masks. With the support of their expertise, Prabal Gurung has delivered National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) compliant equipment to thoughtfully selected hospitals and clinics in underserved and marginalized areas of New York.

As the COVD-19 crisis began to impact New York, Prabal Gurung’s initial goal was to provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to medical personnel. Discussions with the state government and local hospitals revealed that PPE was a highly complex and heavily regulated product, whose specifications fell outside the scope of the brand’s manufacturing capabilities, and trusted sources indicated that their output would not be viable for use under FDA standards. By partnering with The COVID Foundation, Prabal Gurung was able to satisfy their initial objective and donate 2,000 N95 respirator masks to medical professionals.
