Prabal Gurung presents the Pre-Fall 2022 Collection.
Prabal is continuously integrating inspiration from Nepal, NYC, and the concept of femininity with a bite. This collection was inspired by the cleanness of 60s silhouettes, utilizing a-line and sleek lines in separates. There is also present an element of ease and exuberance reminiscent of the 70s, shown in the off the shoulder silhouettes and soft neck ties on blouses and flounces in ruffles.
The idea of tailoring a suit with extreme femininity is amplified further through hyper feminizing a traditional silhouette to accentuate the waist and soften the shoulders. Prabal maintains the structure and curves in the complimentary collection separates, while exploring flounces and ruffles in tops, day dresses, and cocktail dresses.
The print motifs were taken from traditional pomegranate blossom shapes, which are historically eastern motifs, and a sister to the paisley pattern. Elongating the pomegranate blossom results in a unique brand take on paisley, as explored in bright novel mixes of color in lurex silk chiffons for night and matte satin for day.
